In last week’s blog post we looked at some truths from God’s Word that Dr. David Jeremiah shared in this month’s “Turning Points” magazine. Today we will look at some more insights.
Dr. Jeremiah writes: “Not only is the Lord precious to us and not only are we precious to Him, but He also gives us precious treasures to enjoy both now and in the age to come. We have the treasure of being part of His Kingdom. Jesus said, ‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it’ (Matthew 13:44-46).”
Since the change in time a couple of weeks ago, the amount of daylight has decreased and nighttime comes an hour earlier than before. How wonderful it is to know that every child of God can echo what the apostle Peter wrote: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1Peter 2:9).
Last Sunday, Dr. Scott Solberg of Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church preached on the subject “Persistence.” This excellent message is available at: https://wethefc.com/resources/sermons/persistence/
As people in northern parts of the world prepare for the winter by installing shelters for their vehicles and covering bushes, let us also prepare for the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are exhorted in God’s Word to be ready for His return.
In concluding his article on treasures, Dr. Jeremiah writes: “It’s not too late to discover your treasure and to discover it in time. In time to enjoy life. In time to relish His goodness. In time to share Him with others.”
May the joy of the Lord be your strength today and until He comes!
