Aches and Praise Six Hundred & Sixty Three

 Dear friends,

Have you ever been in a store and when you go to pay for something, the electricity shuts down? That happened to me today. Just after I put my credit card on the “Tap” the power went off. When the computer began to re-boot, the power went off again and a few minutes later, it shut down again. While I was waiting for the cashier to tell me if the payment was processed, my son-in-law came beside me. He had been in another part of the store. I also received a call on my cell phone from Michel Martel, the speaker on the radio broadcasts of “La Voix de l’Ēvangile.” It was a blessing to be able to talk to them while I waited for the restoration of power.

When I thought about this, I realized how much our lives depend upon electrical power. In the spiritual realm, we need to ask the Lord to fill us with His Holy Spirit and guide us in His steps. The Lord Jesus, after He rose from the grave, met His disciples who were eager to ask Him if He would restore the kingdom to Israel. Jesus answered: “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority” (Acts 1:7).

In his Study Bible, Dr. David Jeremiah observes: “Jesus told the disciples the means by which the gospel would advance: the Holy Spirit imbued the early Christians with power so that their accomplishments were supernatural.” As we commit our lives to the Lord, He will do amazing things in and through us.

In his comments on this week’s “Thought for the weekend,” Pastor Ross Helgeton writes about prayer in https://www.stettlerindependent.com/opinion/seven-days-without-prayer-makes-one-weak-6606927. May we remember that all that we have is from the Lord.

Scripture for the weekend: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

Thought for the weekend: “Seven days without prayer makes one weak.”

By His grace,

Steve
