La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise Five Hundred & Six

Dear friends,

On Monday morning, I was where I am now – sitting at the desk where the laptop is located – when I felt the walls around me vibrate for a few seconds. It was a little after 7 am and on the 8 am news, I learned that the Montreal area had been rocked by an earthquake of 3.9 magnitude. Last week I began to re-read “God’s Loving Word” by the late Ray C. Stedman, who was pastor of Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, California for forty years. On Monday, I was making notes for a men’s group which began studying the Gospel of John two nights ago and had come to the section where Andrew and another disciple of John the Baptist met Jesus. Stedman describes Andrew as “a warm, friendly, approachable human being” and comments that the San Andreas (Spanish for “Saint Andrew”) fault in California is well named as Andrew was much like that fault – “He was deep and quiet. There was not much action on the surface – but when he moved, something happened.” About ten minutes after I read this and typed on the keyboard of my laptop, I felt the room shake, making quite an impression on me.

When I was growing up, I was in Cubs and Scouts at St. Andrew’s United Church in Saint-Laurent, on the island of Montreal. I liked wearing the uniforms of those groups, including a scarf with the same blue-and-white pattern found on the flag of Scotland, which is one of the oldest flags in the world. For more information about this flag, please visit: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usfeatures/saltire/index.html. I knew that Andrew was the patron saint of Scotland, but I had not realized that San Andreas was the Spanish rendering of his name. According to Wikipedia, “the fault was identified in 1895 by Professor Andrew Lawson of UC Berkeley, who discovered the northern zone. It is often described as having been named after San Andreas Lake, a small body of water that was formed in a valley between the two plates. However, according to some of his reports from 1895 and 1908, Lawson actually named it after the surrounding San Andreas Valley. Following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Lawson concluded that the fault extended all the way into southern California.”

In my blog post two weeks ago, I wrote about the signs of the return of Christ, as recorded in Matthew 24, including “earthquakes in various places” (verse 7). In the Jeremiah Study Bible, the following commentary is given: “The wars, ethnic and territorial conflicts, famines, epidemics, and widespread earthquakes that Jesus mentioned will not signal the end; they will merely be the beginning of sorrows (literally ‘birth pangs’). These troubles will form the backdrop for what will come, and they will increase in intensity when Christ’s return draws near. But none of these things – although terrible in themselves – should trouble God’s people, for He remains sovereign and will bring history to its final conclusion, as He has ordained.”

When I wrote about earthquakes being one of the signs that will precede the second coming of Christ, I had no idea that ten days later, southern Quebec would experience a minor earthquake. If you are reading this and have never asked God’s forgiveness for your sins, I urge you to not wait another minute to do so. Saul’s life was transformed when he was hunting “any who were of the Way” (Acts 9:2). We then read “As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’” (verses 3-4).

After the Lord Jesus told Saul that he was persecuting Him when he attacked His followers, Saul realized his need to repent and trust Christ. Instead of persecuting Christ, Saul now preached Christ (verses 20 and 22). Later, the apostle Paul quoted David’s words in Psalms 14 and 53: “There is none righteous, no, not one … There is none who does good, no, not one.” in his letter to the believers in Rome (Romans 3:10-12). He goes on to contrast the wages of sin (death) with the gift of God (eternal life in Christ) in Romans 6:23. Don’t delay! Trust Christ and dedicate your life to serving Him and telling others the wonderful news of salvation.

Scripture for the weekend: “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “You’ve probably never thought about it this way, but in eternity past God triaged us, determining that we need salvation first and foremost. Because of man’s sin, we didn’t need a theology lesson or an example of love or even a reason for hope. What we needed was salvation. We needed atonement for our sins, which is why the second person of the Trinity was sent to the cross for us.” – Brad Mellette (from his book “Rules of Engagement” published by Word Alive Press, Winnipeg, MB)

By His grace,

Steve
