La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Six Hundred & Twenty Eight

September 22, 2023

Dear friends,

This week I began reading a book entitled “The Disciplines of Life” by the late Dr. V. Raymond Edman, who served overseas in World War I before becoming director of El Instituto Biblico del Ecuador and teaching at Wheaton (Illinois) College. Dr. Edman was chosen as president of the college in 1941. This book contains thirty-one messages that Dr. Edman delivered in chapel services. When I opened it, I found a note written to Karen’s parents by the late Walter Frank, who served with Greater Europe Mission: “Accept this choice little book as a token of our sympathy upon the homegoing of Mother. May the God of all hope fill your hearts will all joy and peace in believing.”

“The Disciplines of Life” contains this dedication: “Life’s early lessons make indelible impressions on the plastic spirit of childhood. The great disciplines of life: to love God with all my heart, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour, to learn the sacred Scriptures, to serve God and my fellow men – these have come from my dear old mother, to whom I gratefully dedicate this little volume.” Reading this was especially moving to me as yesterday was the first anniversary of the death of my mother. I owe so much to Mom, who taught me many valuable lessons and encouraged me to serve the Lord.

In the first chapter of “The Disciplines of Life,” Dr. Edman examines the discipline of discipleship. Here is part of what he shared: “Discipleship means ‘discipline!’ The disciple is that one who has been taught or trained by the Master, who has come with his ignorance, superstition, and sin, to find learning, truth, and forgiveness from the Saviour. Without discipline we are not disciples, even though we profess His Name and pass for a follower of the lowly Nazarene. In an undisciplined age when liberty and license have replaced law and loyalty, there is greater need than ever before that we be disciplined to be His disciples.

Discipleship requires the discipline of conversion, wherein we recognize our lost estate because of rebellion against God, and with penitence come to the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. We assent from our hearts that ‘all we like sheep have gone astray; we have tuned every one to his own way’ (Isaiah 53:6), that ‘all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3:23), that ‘the Scripture hath concluded all under sin’ (Galatians 3:22), and that we ‘were by nature the children of wrath, even as others … strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world’ (Ephesians 2:3, 12).”

Dr. Edman goes on to write: “Discipleship requires the discipline of cost. Our Lord’s words search deeply into the depth of our souls, as He says, ‘He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy pf me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me’ (Matthew 10:37)” and “Discipleship requires the discipline of cross-bearing. Three things seem to be necessary for us each day: our daily food (for which we are to pray, Matt. 6:11); our daily work (in which we ae to be faithful, 1 Thess. 4:11, 12; 2 Thess. 3:10-13), and our daily cross. Our Lord said, ‘If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me’ (Luke 9:23), ‘And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple’ (Luke 14:27; Matt. 16:24).

This cross is not that of our Saviour, who suffered once upon the Tree, for we add no part to the price of our redemption; and least of all, is it bearing an outward cross, around one’s neck … It is the denial of self, in the deepest meaning of that word, and of all that life has to offer, in full surrender to the will of God; in the spirit of Calvary’s Cross, to be sure.”

The Lord Jesus took the punishment that each of us deserved when He hung upon the cross. If you are His child, follow Him with your whole heart and tell others about His love. If you have not yet trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, I urge you to do so today. Scripture for the weekend: “For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” Hosea 6:6 (NKJV)
