La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Six Hundred & Eighty Seven

November 7, 2024

Dear friends,

This blog post is coming to you a day earlier than usual because I have plans for tomorrow that do not allow time for writing. In thinking about how we make plans, the Scripture that comes to mind is: “À man`s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9. In conjunction with this are the following truths written by David: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” – Psalm 37:23-25.

On Monday, we received the news that a friend from church died after being admitted to hospital the day before. Please uphold Will in prayer, as he grieves the death of his wife, Lynda.  Last week, when we began looking at some Biblical teachings about treasures, as examined by Dr. David Jeremiah in the November 2024 edition of “Turning Points” magazine, we had no idea that the health of our friend would take such a drastic turn.

In his study of the Lord Jesus being our greatest treasure, Dr. Jeremiah recounts the story of Henry Godden Jackson, who was born in Indiana on New Year’s Day in 1838. “After college, Jackson became the pastor of a church in New Orleans, but he was shot and beaten during the New Orleans Massacre of July 30, 1866. When he recovered, he took his family to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for missionary work. Through it all, he was sustained by contemplating the precious value of Christ. He put it this way in a simple poem:

Precious to my heart is Jesus,
As I walk with Him each day;
Sweet companionship He gives me,
All along the gladsome way.

It’s truly that simple. When we walk with the Lord Jesus each day and consciously cultivate the sense of His sweet companionship, we find our daily pathway lit up with the gladness of knowing our precious Lord.”

In considering these truths, I am reminded of a saying that was displayed in our home for many years:

Only one life, ‘twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Dr. Jeremiah writes: “Can you say, ‘He is so precious to me! He is the greatest treasure of my life’?” He continues: “Even more amazing than this – not only is the Lord precious to us; we are precious to Him!

When Daniel prayed for his people, an angel appeared, saying, ‘At the beginning of your petitions an answer went out, and I have come to give it, for you are treasured by God.’ (Daniel 9:23, CSB).

In concluding this section of his article, Dr. Jeremiah writes: “People feel worthless when they compare themselves to other people, when their dreams fall apart, or when they are disparaged by others. Perhaps you’ve experienced that. But when we realize how precious the Lord is to us – and how precious we are to Him – we begin discovering timeless treasure. We find a life worth living.”

A couple of weeks ago, I asked for prayer for a friend who is serving in a Christian mission in Arizona, as she was scheduled for surgery on November 6th. That has been changed to November 20th. Thank you for upholding her in prayer.

Scripture for the weekend: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Thought for the weekend: “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” – Corrie ten Boom

By His grace,

Steve
