La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec is a vital part of the extensive radio work of MissionGO

which reaches into many French-speaking countries of the world. The broadcasts are recorded in the studio of the radio follow-up office in Châteauguay.

The ministry began in 1955 in the Back to the Bible Broadcast studios in Lincoln, Nebraska through a staff member who spoke French fluently and had a burden for the French-speaking people of the world. An office was soon established in Aix-en-Provence in France.

In 1974, an office was opened in Châteauguay, Québec, under the direction of MissionGO representatives, Clarence and Pearl Shelly. At the present time, the broadcasts are aired on one station in Montreal and one in Champlain, NY. Stephen Frank became the director of La Voix de l’Évangile, Québec in 2006. His wife, Karen, is also a representative of MissionGO.

The weekly French-language 15-minute broadcast features Pastor Michel Martel, a Québec evangelist who faithfully teaches the Word of God. Audio messages (in French only) are available on CDs at a reasonable cost as well as approximately 40 books in French on the Christian life.

Action Mondiale d’Évangélisation (Québec) Inc is the name of the Québec incorporation of MissionGO

How to have Eternal Life
Epicurus, the Greek philosopher, said: « Each of us leaves life with the feeling that he has just been born, » while according to the Arabic proverb, « Death is closer to us than the eyelid of the eye. »

The thoughtful man therefore thinks of the afterlife, but only one throughout the history of mankind has triumphed over death; one who spoke with authority and simplicity of eternal life – Jesus Christ.

What is eternal life?
Eternal life is a life that never ends, and moreover, has a spiritual dimension. Jesus told His listeners, « I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. » The Gospel according to John 5:24.
His listeners were alive, but because of sin (and all are sinners) they were dead spiritually. Many brilliant men are nevertheless agnostics, atheists, because they are spiritually dead. Their relationship with God is broken, for they do not know Him. Jesus said to His Father, « Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. » John 17:3

You and eternal life
« Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. » First epistle of John 5:10-12.
The theme of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is that of the Redeemer, the Son of God. Over 300 prophecies were fulfilled to the letter in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is God speaking to you and if you do not believe in this message, or if you modify it, you make God a liar and you bring upon yourself everlasting destruction, far from the presence of the Lord. But, if by faith you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you will live forever.
Jesus knocks at the door of your life. He wants to give you eternal life. You can experience the forgiveness of sin, peace and communion with God, and the power of a new and spiritual life. This life also has an eternal dimension; therefore, death is not the end but the dawn of an eternal and glorious day in the presence of Jesus Christ and His Father.

How do we receive eternal life?
« For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. » John 3:16.
What needs to be done to inherit eternal life? We must trust in Jesus Christ. Sin caused death: spiritual and physical. Every man is spiritually dead and all die physically. Jesus paid the debt of our sin and therefore, if we are willing to turn from our sins and trust Him, He will forgive us and give us eternal life, for « the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. » John 5.21

Can we know that we have eternal life?
The apostle John completed his first epistle with the words, « I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. » 1 John 5:13. Jesus gave this assurance to the repentant thief, telling him, « today you will be with Me in paradise. » The Gospel according to Luke 23:43

Can you lose eternal life?
In this case it would not be eternal. Moreover, Jesus said, « And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. » John 6:39 & 40. Speaking of His « sheep” He says: « I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. » John 10:28. As Jesus gives eternal life to all who trust in Him, He also keeps.

It’s Your Decision « For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son … Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him. » John. 3:17, 18 & 36
These verses in the Gospel of John say that you have the responsibility for your eternal fate in your hands. Jesus has done all that is necessary for your salvation and now offers you eternal life. « He who believes has everlasting life. » John 6:47.That is His promise.
What will you do with Jesus? Draw near to God in prayer and tell Him with all your heart that you trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive His salvation and eternal life.

Let us know of your decision so that we can rejoice with you and send you literature to help you in your new life of faith in Jesus Christ.

Aches and Praise

Aches and Praise Four Hundred & Fifty Three

May 14, 2020

Dear friends,

While cleaning recently, I found something that our oldest daughter, Joëlle, wrote when she was in elementary school. It is entitled “When I Grow Up.”

“When I grow up I want to be a nurse. It will be hard but all I can do is try. If I try I can do it but if I do not, I will have to take a little more time on it. My great great grandfather was a nurse. My mom tells me about my great great grandfather’s experiences. He had funny ones. I’ll tell you about one.

One day there was some wash and my great great grandfather had to throw it down the shute. So my great great grandfather did. Then he heard some one saying that there was a baby in the pile of wash. When he heard he went and looked down the shute. Sure enough there was the baby. That was very funny.”

Joëlle did not become a nurse. She became a teacher instead. Both professions involve helping others. Last Sunday, Karen and I had the joy of seeing our children and their spouses, and our three grandchildren by way of video. We thank the Lord for blessing us with a family that loves to help people.

In the past week I read Jean Chrétien’s book “My Stories, My Times” in which he shares memories of forty years in public service, including when he was the Prime Minister of Canada from 1993 to 2003. I had the privilege of meeting two men who served as Prime Minister of Canada: Joe Clark and Brian Mulroney. I would have liked to meet Mr. Chrétien. He has a sense of humour that proved valuable in dealing with leaders of other parties and leaders of other countries.

In a chapter entitled “Humour as a political weapon,” Chrétien writes: “The naked truth is sometimes hard to swallow, but when it is deftly overlaid with humour, it goes down much more easily.” He tells about the time when Camille Samson, who grew up in the same neighbourhood as he did, met with many people in public consultations during the 1980 referendum in Québec regarding the issue of sovereignty. Samson saw that there were fluctuations in the polls before the vote. Chrétien writes: “Camille Samson had fun with this phenomenon, saying that he did his own polling, and at the start of the campaign, he’d gone down into his basement where his cat had given birth to nine kittens. He asked them how they intended to vote in the referendum, and the nine kittens said they would vote Yes. Four weeks later he went back down to the basement to ask the same question, and this time the nine kittens replied that they would vote No. He then asked the meeting: ‘Do you know why they changed their minds? It’s because now their eyes were open.’” Chrétien concludes the chapter with these words: “You can see that sometimes humour in politics can first make you smile, and then make you think.”

In the forward to Jean Chrétien’s book, Joe Clark writes: “By a tradition as old as parliamentary democracy, the distance between the government and the opposition benches in Canada’s House of Commons is ‘two swords and one inch apart.’ That distance symbolizes and encourages debate that is vigorous and adversarial but not fatal – to the participants, or to the country.” With social distancing being recommended for the past couple of months, we find ourselves in uncharted waters. While we wait in line to enter a store, we might reflect on how blessed we are to live in a country that has plenty, including the freedom to debate beliefs.

In the book of 1 Samuel, we read about another man who was a public servant for forty years: Eli. While he was a judge in Israel, his two sons were living immorally. Sadly, Eli died of a broken neck when he fell backward after receiving news of the death of his sons (4:17-18).

The Bible also contains many accounts of people who experienced joy and victory as they walked with God. May we follow in their footsteps, even if we have to stay two metres or six feet away from others.

Scripture for the weekend: “There is no one holy like the Lord. Indeed, there is no one besides Thee, nor is there any rock like our God.”1 Samuel 2:2 (NASB)

Thought for the weekend: “We should do more than read words; we should seek the Word exposed in the words.” – David Roper (from “The Lord is My Shepherd”, Our Daily Bread Ministries, Grand Rapids, Michigan)

By His grace,
